Book Review: This is Your Brain in Love
5 March 2012 Book Review
Earl Henslin’s This is Your Brain in Love is essentially a relationship, marriage help book that takes a little different angle of approach when it comes to being the best you can be in a relationship. My wife and I have gone through all sorts of love/marriage/relationship/communication/etc. books within small groups or Sunday School classes. I was interested in checking this text out because it enters the discussion from more of a medical and scientific angle, but still within a “Christian” context.
It is interesting to see interpretations of how different people approach love and relationships differently not strictly by personality type, but by things that are more closely tied to the body itself. Again, it’s a different look. The point is to be a fully healthy person, and allow that health to support and bring balance to the relationship. In general, I don’t find this book a recommended read for everyone or anyone. Maybe for my genius, science and medical testing/researcher brother (Ph.D. working in a lab to fix eye problems) because I know of his affinity for these sorts of discussions. But, not really anyone else. At least that’s my take.
