Thanks for your comment, Phil. “Violence feeds off mutual recriminations and blame” is a great statement. There needs to be more voices within the church taking a stand for nonviolence. To show that we have many alternatives available that have nothing to do with violent action.

How long indeed. Do you see churches now-a-days moving in the right direction?

I think this is a wise answer. Violence feeds off mutual recriminations and blame. Years ago I remember speaking to a Franciscan Friar in Belfast. He told me how many of his parishioners had been murdered in the troubles. I stood there in silence thinking, Lord how long before enough people say no more?
