That’s not a chess set

That’s a chess set! A very nice gift from my mother-in-law, who (with the help of my beautiful bride) understands my great liking for things old, especially board game type things. This is a great, oversized set. Chipped and rough, and perfect. The kids love it.

Of course I have developed a great passion for Xiangqi now (Chinese Chess). So I am keeping my eye out for a cool set. For about a year I house taking care of a very sweet set for my brother-in-law. The set was a gift to him last year, purchased in China. The pieces are figurines. The board is amazing. I was tasked with learning how to play. In doing so I learned how challenging and fun Xiangqi was. I gave the set back to him recently and hope to get a set for our family soon. Don’t get me wrong: I am quite content. We are one of those families that likes board games, the ones that challenge and push us mentally and strategically, It’s fun to have friends over, chill out in fellowship and play some chess, Rummikub, Mexican Train, Trivial Pursuit,…or hopefully soon some Xiangqi.

  • I love chess, checkers, chinese checkers...monopoly, etc....very fun
